Snow in Savoy

Anybody know how much snow fell at Savoy State Forest last night??? We had 7 inches in Northampton (not that anyone cares)! Jay

We got about 4" so Savoy probably got 6-8" Another storm is coming Thursday. There was plenty of snow last week for the race but too much water. (The ground is frozen so water and melt runs on top). There a deep freeze coming for the weekend too...that'll help. I think Merrimack has snow for Mondays race.

The Savoy SF winter map makes it look like you cant get in off Rt 116. The event website has directions for going in that way. Which should I believe?

The route from 116 to North Pond should be passable. I know a school marm that took that road to get to the Florida school regularly. JUst follow the signs to Savoy Mt State forest (which I believe are found at every intersection if you look for them) from just North of the Savoy Village on 116. But if you are never seen again, we will understand!

I will drive rt 116 and head toward North/South Pond through Center Road in Savoy Thursday, and unless I find something odd (closed) I wont reply.

If it is closed, or unpassable, I will respond here and on the webpage.

I have always used that route (20+ years worth) and it has been decent most of the time.

We will check the conditions at Savoy Thursday, we plan on something Saturday and maybe something Sunday there as well. We will know more Thursday night and will be announced on the snowshoe web site then.

Application says 10:00am start on Sunday, schedule says 10:30am.
I assume 10:00am is the correct time but if someone looks at the schedule they will be late for the start

center road into the state forest was fine on thursday, some ruts approaching tannery road but all in all not too bad. i have seen it worse, much worse.

i have fixed the start time on the schedule for sunday. thanks for catching that! the app and south pond page were ok, so i think we are all-set now.
