Trail Running News Late Summer Edition, 2010

Congratulations to overall champs Ben Nephew and Abby Mahoney, and to Top Stoneheads Scott Patnode and Kathleen Furlani, who ran 13 and 14 races, respectively.

In 2010, 2130 runners ran at least one race, 533 completed 2 or more races, and there were 67 official series finishers, who ran six or more races.

Many thanks to all you runners who honor the trails and our running community, and thanks especially to the race directors and volunteers who made the 2010 season possible.

Run as few or as many as you like. For each race, you get points proportional to your pace as a percentage of the winner's pace, with the winner getting 100 points, and, for example, a hypothetical runner at 75% of the winner's pace getting 75 points. Your best six races determine your final standing for the series. In addition, for the "Stonehead" competition, your total points for all races is summed.

For Stone Cat and Pisgah, either distance counts for the Grand Tree. For the MorFun Wapack, the 21 miler is the Grand Tree race. For Savoy, both the 22 mile 2 lap race and 11 mile 1 lap race are GT races, runners may drop from 22 to 11 miles, and 11 miler points are based on the day's fastest first lap time. For all other dual-distance races, the longer race is the Grand Tree Race.

Race directors: Please let us (WMAC Webmaster) know of any date changes or of any significant revisions to your race's results following their initial posting. - Thanks.
